DIMAPUR, SEP 24 (NPN): Three Dimapur-based civil society organisations (CSOs) have urged the state government to immediately start construction of the long-pending bypass road from New Check-Field Gate near Amar Flour Mill to Bible House near New Dhansari Bridge, Walford, to help ease traffic congestion in Dimapur.
The appeal was made jointly by the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Dimapur Urban Colony Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GB Union Dimapur Sadar (GBUDS), following a meeting with the deputy commissioner and revenue officer at the DC’s office on Thursday.
In a press release, NCD vice president (admn) M Berimong Yimkhiung and general secretary LK Peter Anal said the three organisations, led by the NCD, assured the district administration of their full cooperation in addressing any issues that may arise during execution of the project.
The proposed bypass would cross the railway track and pass through Veterinary Colony and Burma Camp before connecting with the New Dhansari Bridge area.
The organisations said government records showed that the land surveyed and demarcated for the road from one terminal to the other had already been compensated.
They therefore said there should be no land encroachment or ownership disputes when construction begins.
The civil society organisations also urged the directorate of land records and survey, Dimapur, to immediately provide an official report confirming the surveyed measurements and pillar-marked alignment of the bypass so that work could commence without further delay and be completed before the project funds lapse.
The three organisations have further appealed to all communities in Dimapur to extend full cooperation for the smooth execution and timely completion of the project, which they said would help reduce the city’s traffic congestion.
