Dimapur District GB Association (DDGBA) elects new team for 2022-27

Dimapur District GB Association (DDGBA) held its general meeting at Tourist lodge, here on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the house installed a new team of office bearers for a tenure of five years (2022-2027).
The new team would be led by Hokuto Zhimomi as president, Longer Jamir as working president, Neiba Kesiezie as general secretary along with three vice presidents, two joint secretaries, two information and media secretaries, two other members and 14 executive members representing various tribes.
DDGBA after the bifurcation of the Dimapur district held a consultation meeting on March 30, 2020 where a nomination committee of 13 members comprising of all the tribes of Dimapur was formed to select new executive members.
At the meeting, nomination committee secretary, W Kholie Kapfo stressed on the need to redraft the constitution after the bifurcation which he said was the foundation of the association’s functioning system to be in adherence by law and to institute judiciary board chairman or secretary and members by the new office bearers at the earliest.
During the meeting, elected president, Hokuto Zhimomi highlighted the roles and importance of GBs. He stated that the role of GBs was to reach out to the problems quickly before the government could, while also coordinating with police and administration.
GBs were created by the British to bring Naga people in line with the policy, he said.
Hokuto also pointed out that GBs had always kept the people in check and were instrumental in maintaining discipline and order among the masses.
In the recent past, GBs were used by the government to push the agenda of a solution, he informed.
While keeping up with the roles, duties and responsibilities, he urged upon all the GBs to join hands in order to make Dimapur a better place.
