Dimapur gets water quality testing lab

A district water quality testing laboratory accredited by National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) was inaugurated here at Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Complex, Landmark Colony, Dimapur, Wednesday.
Speaking at the inaugural programme as special guest, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal, who is also the chairman of District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), underscored the importance of quality water in day to day life.
He said the laboratory can detect harmful contaminants and ensure that the water was safe to drink and that regular drinking water testing could help in ensuring that supply water meet relevant health and safety standards, protecting consumers from potential harm.
Jaiswal also encouraged judicious use of the laboratory so as to maintain reliable and safe water sources and eliminate potential health risks related to water contamination.

mentioned that district water quality testing laboratory Dimapur is a NABL accredited laboratory, established in the year 2020 and accredited in 2022. She said the laboratory was equipped with all necessary chemicals and equipment required for testing 14 basic parameters of drinking water.
A short speech was also delivered by executive engineer (WSSO) O/o the chief engineer, Nagaland, Er Ichirangbe Zeliang.
The programme was chaired by PHED, state water quality testing laboratory state chemist, A Rolland Kikon, invocation by PHED, JE Kutoshe Chisho and vote of thanks by PHED Dimapur rural division lab head and executive engineer, Er Nirie-e Nisa.
