National Service Scheme (NSS) Nagaland represented by Dimapur Government College (DGC) participated in the inter- state youth exchange and home -stay programme at Youth Hostel, Mapusa, Goa from December 13 to 22.
The programme was organised by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Sriperumbudur, in association with NSS Regional Directorate of Pune and government college of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem, Goa. Altogether, ten NSS volunteers from DGC along with a programme officer represented the state NSS.
A press release by programme officer NSS, Mezhulhoulie Angami stated that the deputy CM, minister of youth affairs & sports, Goa, along with other dignitaries attended the programme as chief guest and guests of honour in the inaugural as well as valedictory function. Besides cultural programmes being exchanged daily, one day home-stay was organised by the local volunteers wherein all the volunteers spent the day at the local village and exchanged cultural values and traditions, stated the release.
It also stated that seminars on leadership, personality development, social harmony, self confidence, role of youth in national integration and nation building were also conducted in the programme.
NSS Volunteers of DGC presented many cultural dance and other performances, showcasing the rich and valued cultures and traditions of Nagaland and the programme officer, Mezhulhoulie Angami, gave the vote of thanks on behalf of state NSS in the valedictory function.
Meanwhile, NSS DGC has expressed its gratitude to state NSS officer, C. Theyo and DGC principal, Kuholi Chishi for giving the opportunity to explore and exchange the rich culture of the country.
