Dimapur Music College celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on Saturday with patriotic fervour, cultural performances and tributes to the freedom fighters who contributed to the country’s independence.
Established in 1978, Dimapur Music College has been serving as an institution dedicated to promoting, preserving and advancing India’s rich musical and cultural heritage. Over nearly five decades, the college has trained thousands of students, many of whom have carried forward the values of music, art, culture, literature and language in society.
The Independence Day programme began with the unfurling of the National Flag jointly by the adviser and secretary of Dimapur Music College, followed by the singing of “Vande Mataram” and the National Anthem, “Jana Gana Mana.”
Students of the college presented patriotic songs, while a special dance performance paid tribute to the freedom fighters and commemorated their sacrifices and contributions to the nation.
The programme was also addressed by distinguished members and well-wishers of the institution, including former Managing Director of NSCB B.K. Thadani, chairman of the Linguistic Minority Forum of Nagaland and advisory board member of Dimapur Music College Bishnu Bhattacharjee and secretary of Dimapur Music College Shankar Biswas.
The speakers lauded the institution’s contribution towards nurturing young talent and preserving the country’s cultural heritage. They encouraged students to remain connected with India’s traditions while developing their creativity and talents. Bhattacharjee emphasised the role of music and culture in transcending social boundaries and bringing communities together. He said institutions such as Dimapur Music College have an important role in keeping India’s cultural traditions alive by empowering younger generations through music, art and education.
The programme, though brief, reflected the spirit of Independence Day by bringing together patriotism, culture, music and remembrance of the sacrifices made by the nation’s freedom fighters.
Dimapur Music College said it remains committed to nurturing young talent and preserving India’s cultural diversity. With nearly five decades of service, the institution continues to serve as a centre of music, creativity and cultural heritage.
