Dimapur and Phek districts have been recognised as best-performing districts in the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign under the Dharti Aaba Janbhagidari Abhiyan, a nationwide tribal welfare initiative launched by the Government of India from June 15 to July 15, 2025.
The awards were presented at the Aadi Karmayogi National Conclave held on October 17 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event was organised by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and graced by President of India, Droupadi Murmu, as chief guest. Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, along with other dignitaries and tribal representatives from across the country, also attended.
The conclave focused on the “Adi Karmayogi Abhiyan,” a national movement to empower tribal communities and build a grassroots leadership network. Line departments from Nagaland, led by secretary Angelina Tajen, and officials from Rural Development, Social Welfare, Health & Family Welfare, Education and others participated in the programme.
In her address, President Murmu highlighted the Abhiyan’s goal of making every tribal village self-reliant and ensuring active participation in national development. Awards were given to top-performing states, districts, blocks, and tribal development agencies. Madhya Pradesh was among the states honoured, while Dimapur and Phek were recognised for their district-level achievements.
A key highlight of the conclave was the launch of “Tribal Village Vision 2030,” aimed at implementing comprehensive tribal development plans. The scheme includes leadership training for 20 lakh “change-leaders” across one lakh tribal villages in 550 tribal-dominated districts. These leaders, known as “Adi Karmayogis” and “Adi Sahyogis,” will support governance and service delivery.
To promote tribal entrepreneurship, the Ministry also announced a “Tribal Business Conclave” to be held on November 12, 2025.
