Dimapur police in a press statement by ADC of Police and PRO Dimapur police has informed that in the last fortnight it has arrested six persons on charges of extortion and related crimes.
The release stated that Anti Extortion Team (AET) under Zone-II arrested two persons from PWD area Dimapur on April 18 after they were found extorting money. The arrested persons were identified as Naratho Pochury, son of Koto Pochury of Meluri village and, present resident of Thilixu village, Dimapur, PRO stated that he was reportedly a ‘major’ of the GDRN/NNC (NA); Hezekiya Awomi son of late Khuvito of Homeland village, Dimapur and present resident of Burma Camp, Dimapur, reportedly a ‘captain’ of the GDRN/NNC (NA).
In another incident on April 11, PRO said AET under Zone-I arrested two persons from Murgipatti area, Dimapur while they were extorting money from business houses. The arrested persons were identified as Thsarose Sangtam son of Chumpimong Sangtam of Yangzitong village, Kiphire and present resident of Chekiye village, Dimapur; Hito Chishi son of late Akheho Chishi of Litami village, Zunheboto and, present resident of Purana Bazaar. PRO stated that incriminating documents in the form of demand slips of the NSCN (R), money in cash were seized from their possessions.
Police also arrested two persons while they were robbing passengers of an auto rickshaw near Sewak Gate, Dimapur on April 4. The arrested persons have been identified as Tiakaba Jamir, son of late Kariba Jamir of Changki village and, present resident of MST Colony, Dimapur and Sanjeev Raj, son of Dhurbo Rai, resident of MST Colony, Dimapur.
The release also informed that Dimapur Police also raided a house on April 17 located at Valley View Colony, Dimapur and seized approximately 225 cases of illegal assorted IMFL. In this connection, necessary investigations are underway and one person has so far been arrested.
Arrested person has been identified as Vika Yepthomi, son of HukaiYepthomi of Litami village and, present resident of 4th Mile, Dimapur.
