Dimapur police, Special Operation Team (SOT) during a surveillance on Thursday, acted on a verbal information that some armed miscreants were threatening and extorting at a petrol pump near Hotel Theja Fort.
According to Dimapur police, the SOT intercepted on white Scorpio bearing registration number NL01P0205 near the area and arrested five persons—Asuka, Akheto, Mikato, Toto, Puloto. On searching the vehicle, the SOT seized one toy pistol which was used during the crime and eight smartphones from their possession.
The arrested persons along with the seized items and vehicle were handed over to East Police station and a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged by the aggrieved party for the commission of crime.
