Dimapur police nab 8 for extortion

Dimapur police arrested from eight persons on charges of extortion from several locations under Dimapur district between September 1 and 7. 

According to Dimapur police PRO, on September 1, an information was received from reliable source that some unknown miscreants had kidnapped a truck driver near Patkai bridge NH 29 and demanded Rs. 27,000 as yearly tax in the name of NSCN (K1) and NSCN (IM).

In the course of the investigation, police rescued driver and arrested the accused identified as Alam Shah (35).

In this connection, a case was registered with Chumoukedima PS.

On September 2, police arrested two persons identified as SS under secretary NSCN (R) Khekugha Aye (31) and Hovikhu Sumi (43) while they were issuing information slips in the name of NSCN (R)/GPRN ministry of chaplee affairs at 6th mile area to business establishments. 

In this connection, a case was registered with Chumoukedima PS.

On the same day, police also arrested SS. Leacy NSCN/GPRN-K (Nikki) Yehoto Aye (41) for demanding money from truck drivers at Diezephe village Dimapur. In this connection, a case was registered with sub-urban PS.

On September 3, arrested Shikavi Chophy (35) while demanding money from egg wholesaler shops in the name of NSCN(R) at Naga Bazaar Murgipatti Dimapur. Police recovered a cash amount of Rs.32,000 from his possession and a case was registered with east PS.

Dimapur police on the same day arrested Lutoi K. Achumi (27) while collecting yearly tax from tata mobile and carrier auto in the name of NNC/GDRN at Naharbari Dimapur and recovered a cash of Rs.7,200 from his possession.

In this connection, a case was registered with east PS. On September 4, police arrested Mika Chopy (24), SS 2nd Lieut. NNC/NA while serving a yearly tax at medical wholesale distributors located at M.P. road Dimapur

 In this connection, a case was registered with east PS. Dimapur police arrested SS captain NNC Tokishe Yeptho (49) from 7th mile Dimapur while issuing work permit in the name of United Naga People Government NNC (parent body).

In this connection a case was registered with Chumoukedima PS, PRO informed.
