DIMAPUR, OCT 2 (NPN): Ayen Mongba produced a player-of-the-match performance as Dimapur United Sporting Club outclassed Don Bosco Sports Academy 5-0 in the first semifinal of the Dimapur District Football League (DDFL)-cum-Late Hejeto Ayemi Memorial Trophy at DDSC Stadium, Dimapur on Friday.
Dimapur United made a flying start, with Ayen Mongba finding the back of the net in the third minute to hand his side an early advantage. The forward struck again in the 12th minute to complete his brace and put pressure on the Don Bosco defence.
Despite creating a few opportunities from set-pieces, Don Bosco Sports Academy failed to convert their chances and went into the break trailing by two goals. Joseph Lalditum and his teammates were unable to breach the disciplined Dimapur United backline.
Dimapur United continued to dominate after the restart and extended their lead in the 27th minute of the second half through Vinato. The attacking midfielder added further misery for Don Bosco as the home side-maintained control of possession and attacking momentum.
Yiben joined the scoresheet in the 35th minute of the second half before Vinato completed his brace four minutes later to seal an emphatic 5-0 victory.
According to the official match statistics, Dimapur United enjoyed 60 per cent possession, registered 15 shots and 15 shots on target, while Don Bosco Sports Academy managed 14 shots with only four on target. Dimapur United also earned eight corners compared to Don Bosco’s six.
Ayen Mongba was adjudged Player of the Match for his outstanding contribution, scoring two goals and playing a key role in his team’s dominant display. The comprehensive win sends Dimapur United Sporting Club into the final of the competition, where they will look to continue their impressive run in pursuit of the title.
