Director General of Assam Rifles reviews preparedness

Director General of Assam Rifles (DGAR), Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, visited Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles at Dimapur to review the operational, intelligence, training and administrative preparedness of the formation.
During the visit, the DGAR was briefed in detail on the prevailing security scenario, including socio-political developments in Dimapur and adjoining areas. Comprehensive intelligence updates on current factional dynamics were presented, highlighting emerging trends and their potential impact on peace and stability.
Lt Gen Lakhera assessed the operational readiness of units under the sector, focusing on deployment patterns, responsiveness and inter-agency coordination. Training standards were also reviewed to ensure troops remain prepared to meet evolving security challenges. Commending the troops for their outstanding work, he awarded three on-the-spot commendation cards to soldiers for exceptional performance.
Administrative aspects, including logistics, infrastructure and welfare measures, were examined to ensure efficient functioning of all units. The DGAR lauded all ranks for their professionalism, dedication and high morale, while emphasizing sustained vigilance, synergy and proactive engagement with local communities to maintain peace and stability in the region.
On April 6, the DGAR also visited Ghaspani garrison in Chümoukedima district. At the Subedar P.B. Chhetri, Kirti Chakra, Centre of Excellence (NIEDO), he interacted with students preparing for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET. He reviewed the infrastructure and facilities available to support their studies and commended both students and faculty for their dedication and perseverance.
Addressing the students, Lt Gen Lakhera urged them to remain focused, disciplined and consistent in their efforts to succeed in highly competitive examinations.
The DGAR also interacted with troops at the garrison, appreciating their commitment to duty and motivating them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism. Commendation cards were presented to personnel who had displayed exceptional service.
