SJC Dimapur: Team of fire fighters from Dimapur, West Fire Station visited St. John College on March 2 conducted a fire fighting drill, along with some basic first aid and fire response training.
A press release from St John media cell stated that, the team was led by officer-in-charge Nozoto Angami. Angami and his team explained about different types of fire, different fire extinguishers required in different situations to the students. Team highlighted the fact that putting water on a liquid fire was not effective as the water sinks in the fuel and can cause burning liquid to spread and make a fire worse.
They added that in such circumstances, foam, powder, or carbon dioxide extinguishers may be used. Team also demonstrated a variety of lifting techniques that may be utilised to carry injured people away from danger, and finally explained how cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) could be carried out in the event of finding somebody unconscious.
