MP SUPONGMEREN URGES COORDINATED EFFORTS FOR INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT
The District Development Co-ordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Zunheboto district was held on Thursday at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and DISHA Chairperson, S. Supongmeren Jamir.
According to a DIPR report, in his opening address, MP Jamir emphasized the importance of collaborative governance, urging all officials to work in close coordination with the District Administration as a unified team. He highlighted the wide array of welfare schemes introduced by the Government of India and called upon Heads of Offices to ensure diligent implementation at the grassroots level, so that no citizen is left out of the benefits.
Acknowledging the efforts of the State Government, the MP appealed to departmental heads to prioritize effective delivery and monitoring of schemes. He also noted that unresolved issues could be addressed through coordination with the Deputy Commissioner, who serves as Member Secretary of DISHA, and other concerned departments. He suggested that crucial schemes requiring attention be forwarded to the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) for prioritization.
The meeting featured presentations from the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), and Department of Social Welfare, detailing ongoing schemes and projects.
Executive Engineer, PHED, Er. Ichirang Zeliang, reported that water quality across most villages in the district is satisfactory, though E. coli was detected in six villages, an issue that has since been resolved. He also informed that a Water Testing Laboratory has been installed at the PHED Office, Zunheboto, for continuous monitoring.
A report on the PM POSHAN scheme was presented by the District Education Officer (DEO), highlighting nutritional initiatives in schools.
Following the agenda discussions, MP Jamir invited suggestions from DISHA members to enhance the effectiveness of scheme implementation.
He also led an extensive dialogue on challenges faced by local communities and shared his observations on the progress of various projects.
In a concluding appeal, the MP encouraged Heads of Offices and councilors to contribute to environmental sustainability by planting at least one tree during their tenure in the district.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Chumlamo Humtsoe.
