DIMAPUR: As part of the Intensified IEC Campaign 3.0, DISHA Mon organised a bike rally on October 5 involving 34 bikers to spread awareness on HIV and AIDS and encourage the community to adopt informed, responsible and safe practices.
According to a press release, before flagging off the rally, DPO DISHA, Longyim Tzudir, expressed gratitude to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Mon, for continued support towards programmes and activities undertaken under DISHA. He also thanked participants and traffic personnel for their cooperation. Tzudir highlighted the purpose of the rally and briefed the gathering on various activities being carried out under the campaign.
Addressing the gathering, CMO Mon, Dr. Supongmenla Walling, emphasised the importance of being aware and responsible in every aspect of life. Drawing an analogy with road safety, she said that just as riders must remain alert and follow traffic rules for their own safety, people must also be aware of HIV and AIDS, its prevention, transmission and the importance of seeking timely information and support.
She encouraged participants to carry the message forward and share HIV and AIDS awareness information with the wider community to create greater understanding and awareness.
