Disposal of seized wildlife items by WCCU Dimapur

Wildlife Crime Control Unit (WCCU), Dimapur, seized various hunted wildlife items on March 22 that were sold along National Highway-29 of Pherima village. The items included one common palm civet, four hoary bellied squirrels, one khalij pheasant and four other birds. The seized bushmeat were later disposed of by burning in the presence of forest officials on the very same day. Since enough awareness and warnings have been given on various occasions through respective village councils as well as print media, any offender if caught in future would be penalized as per the law.
