Dist level tournament held for govt schools in Tseminyu

The district level tournament for Government Higher Secondary School and Government High Schools was held from March 7 to 8 at Rengma Sports Association Ground. The tournament was organized by the district education office/sub-divisional education Tseminyu with Rohit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Tseminyu as special guest.


Rohit Singh, in his address motivated students to take the tournament as a “stepping stone and motivating factors for showcasing their skills and talents” although the event maybe a small and a humble beginning. The DC remarked that education being an all-round development and it is fitting that students need to have fun activities after exams and know how to maintain balance.


Likening sports as part of life, Singh advised the students to “develop skills of life” endowed with a spirit of cooperation, teamwork, resilience, discipline and sportsmanship through the benefits of games and sports apart from mental and psychological well-being.
The tournament witnessed participation from 7 schools comprising 1 GHSS and 6 GHS within the Tseminyu district competing in 8 games/events viz. badminton, 100-metre race, 200-metre race, 800-metre race, 1500-metre race, long jump, shot put and javelin throw for both boys and girls category.


Government Higher Secondary School Tseminyu emerged as the Champion(Gold), Government High School Tesophenyu clinched the first runner-up (Silver) and Government High School Kandinu bagged the second runner-up (Bronze).
The first position holders in each category of games will be representing the district for the inter-district tournament to be held March from 14 to 15 in Kohima by the Directorate of School Education.


Francis Magh Rengma, ToTs EBRC Tseminyu anchored the inaugural precession of programme and Logvule Tep, UDA invoked the intercession. Gwayhunle Tep, SDEO & i/c DEO Tseminyu delivered the welcome note. Ahile Seb sang a melodious song and Hechulo Semy, Principal GHSS Tseminyu relayed the word of gratitude.
