Distribution camp for PwDs

An aids & appliances distribution camp — organized by National Insurance Cooperation Limited (NICL) & Artificial Limb Manufacturing Cooperation (ALIMCO), Kanpur in collaboration with District Disability rehabilitation centre, District hospital for People with Disabilities (PwDs) — was held on Monday, at DDRC, District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) with Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur and DDRC chairman Sushi Kumar.
Speaking at the programme, the DC acknowledged MD (PMR) MD Dr. Imlitemsu Ozukum and his team for taking the initiative of coming up with the programme for PwDs. He suggested that there was a need to survey the number of disabled people from village to village.
He encouraged disabled persons to be strong willed and continue to live a life better than normal. 
A short speech was delivered by MD (PMR) MD Dr Imlitemsu Ozukum, who briefed the gathering about the function of DDRC where he mentioned that after lying defunct/non functional for a long time, DDRC, Dimapur was revived in August 1, 2016. Heeding to need, the government, led by the former chief secretary Lankan Kumar and the health and family welfare department, initiated the revival and revived the centre by bringing manpower to the centre, he stated. 
Ozukum pointed out the achievements of centre to date which included 3156 patients (both disability and pre-disability) cases treated, issue of disability certificates, various training programmes held on disability in collaboration with organizations, various health camps etc.  Altogether there were 307 PwDs beneficiaries which included 47 from Kohima and 260 from Dimapur, Ozukum stated. He thanked NICL and ALIMCO for providing the much needed aids and appliances.
Speeches were also delivered by ALIMCO, NICL and differently abled members.
The programme was chaired by DHD medical superintendent Dr. Kheshito Zhimomi, invocation was delivered by DHD chaplain Reverend Thinking Thong, welcome note was delivered by chief medical officer, Dimapur Dr. Vikato Kinimi.
On the sideline, DHD medical superintendent Dr. Kheshito Zhimomi said that Dimapur being the hub centre, the district had the highest number of OPDs compared to the other districts. He lamented that though the numbers had been rising yet there was a lack of infrastructure, manpower and equipment in the hospital.
