In an effort to curb illegal encroachment, the Dimapur district administration morning carried out an eviction drive at District Hospital Dimapur (DHD) on Thursday. During the drive, at least two unauthorized shops were demolished.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, told Nagaland Post that the district administration took the action following report submitted by DHD medical superintendent. The report highlighted the construction of two illegal shops in front of the hospital staff quarters.
DC said a show cause notice was served to the shop owners, giving them a 15-day period to remove the structures voluntarily. However, since no action was taken even after the notice period had lapsed, the administration proceeded with the eviction. It was learnt that the evicted shops were owned by one Naga and one non-Naga individuals.
The eviction was carried out around 8:30am in the presence of officials from district administration and law enforcement personnel.
