A District De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, was inaugurated at Thongsunyu village under Tseminyu district on Saturday.
Chairman DPDB, Tseminyu, Ar. Jwenga Seb, MLA who graced the occasion as special guest, described the new centre as a sanctuary for healing and recovery.
He said substance abuse is a social issue affecting families and communities, and the centre reflects the collective effort to safeguard youth and restore lives. Seb stressed the role of counselling, therapy, medical support and vocational training in the rehabilitation process.
Guest of honour, Deputy Commissioner Tseminyu, Japheth Woch, reminded that fighting drug abuse requires unified action from all sections—parents, schools, churches and community groups.
He called for open discussion on addiction without stigma and said the centre is committed to helping individuals rebuild their lives with dignity.
The programme was chaired by Gwahulo Kent, with an introductory note by Project Coordinator Timothy Thong and a presidential address by project in-charge Philip Seb.
Representative from Rengma Hoho also delivered a short speech, and the vote of thanks was given by Project Coordinator Reuben Seb.
