Rengma Hoho has announced a sit-in dharna as its next phase of democratic agitation, which will be followed by a hunger strike to press for its demand for upgrading Tseminyu sub-division into a full-fledged district.
In a statement, Rengma Hoho president Pollem Tep and general secretary Sinhilo Thongseb said that the decision was made during the sixth executive body meeting of Rengma Hoho held at Class-I Contractors’ Conference Hall, Kohima on November 29.
The meeting was attended by representatives of all apex frontal Rengma organisations– Rengma Students’ Union, Rengma Selo Zi, Rengma Mothers’ Association, Rengma Officers’ Forum, Rengma Gaon Bura Federation, Rengma Public Organisation Kohima, Rengma Public Organisation Dimapur, Rengma Public Organisation Chümoukedima, Rengma Village Council Chairmen Forum and seven range organisations.
The house observed that the demand for Tseminyu district and its justifications were known to the State government as the hoho had submitted its last memorandum in this regard on August 25 this year, while multiple committee reports on creation or upgrade of new administrative headquarters and creation of new districts were at its disposal.
