Dimapur Mission Office Dimapur , Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan organised district level Kala Utsav competition Wednesday at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) half Nagarjan, Dimapur.
Altogether five schools partook at the competition namely Government High School (GHS) Burma camp, GHS Lingrijan, GHS, Diphupar B, GHS, Darogapathar and GHS Naharbari. Winner of the competition was bagged to GHS Burma camp followed by GHS Diphubar B and GHS Darogapathar in the second and third position respectively whereas GHS Lingrijan and GHS Naharbari won the consolation prize. The winner will be presenting the state level Kala Utsav competition. Speaking at the short programme, DMD Timothy Thong briefed about the Kala utsav maintaining that the competition was launched in 2015, which has been a yearly event. He also spoke about the importance of art which can be depicted in various categories such as dance, Art theatre and visual art. He said that when one present visual art, one need to go back in time and relive. He reminded the students to know about the rich cultural heritage.
Reiterating about the participation of the students, he said “Winning is as important as participation”. Timothy further extended his appreciation to DEO, Dimapur for her cooperation and support.
Earlier delivering welcome address District Education Officer (DEO) Dimapur R Amongla Jamir in her speech mentioned that the department have been organizing various programme in different where both government and private school have been actively participated besides the other curricular activities of the schools. Encouraged the students she reminded that everyone cannot be winner only one will be adjudged as winner yet the important part is not about winning but it’s about their participation and further asked the students not to be discouraged even if they lose but to take is as a challenge . She further requested the schools and students to continue to extend their cooperation and support through their participation even in the days to come.
Judges of the competition were registering officer Art and culture, Dimapur Lampha Konyak, GHS Chumukedima headmaster Paulus Jamio and Limawapang (PGT). The programme was chaired by RMSA, district coordinator Abigail Yepthomi and later vote of thanks was delivered by RMSA district coordinator Aseno Yanthan.
