District-level social audit under MGNREGS held in Kohima

The 4th phase of financial year 2025–26 district level social audit public hearing under MGNREGS, implemented during FY 2023–24, was convened by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Kohima, in collaboration with NSSAA Social Audit Unit Nagaland on April 28 at DPDB Hall, Kohima.
According to a press release from DRDA, Assistant Director NSSAA, SAU Nagaland, Imlirenla Sanglir, in her introductory remarks, informed that 18 villages across three RD blocks—Tseminyu, Botsa and Chunlikha—were audited. She also highlighted the Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, which provides a statutory overhaul of MGNREGA, aligning rural employment with the long-term vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 while strengthening accountability, infrastructure outcomes and income security.
District resource person Khrutalu Shijoh presented the audit findings, which were reviewed during the hearing. Issues such as mismatch of records between MIS and RD Block offices, enrolment of new households, non-maintenance of project shelves and job card-related concerns were discussed, with rectifications produced by the concerned BDOs. Resolutions were also passed to take corrective measures.
EAC Kohima HQ, Ane Khieya, attended as observer representing the district administration. BDOs of Tseminyu, Botsa and Chunlikha RD Blocks, DRDA officials, MGNREGA beneficiaries, village functionaries, VLOs and media representatives participated in the hearing.
The programme was chaired by Project Director DRDA Kohima, Kevilhoubei-u, who also addressed the gathering.
