DIMAPUR: A District Stakeholders’ Consultation Meeting under MRMA 2.0 (Mera Resham Mera Abhiyan) was held at the State Sericulture Farmer Training Centre, Chümoukedima, on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Mayangjalwalling, District Sericulture Officer, and Dr. Anil Kumar S. T., Scientist B, CSB MESSO, P3 Unit, Narayanpur. Deliberations reviewed the present status of sericulture in the district and discussed major challenges faced by farmers.
The meeting focused on identifying practical measures to improve cocoon and silk production, strengthen extension services and enhance farmers’ access to scientific technologies.
A detailed action plan was prepared for effective implementation of MRMA 2.0 in the district. It was decided to organise awareness programmes, farmer trainings, field demonstrations and technology dissemination activities to encourage adoption of improved sericulture practices.
Participants expressed confidence that the initiative would contribute significantly to the sustainable growth of the sericulture sector and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Chümoukedima district.
