Divisional Management Unit Mokokchung holds annual review meeting

‘NFMP water harvesting structures yielding positive results’

DIMAPUR: Divisional Management Unit (DMU, Mokokchung Forest Division of Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) held its annual review meeting for the year 2021-22, in the office complex, Marepkong under Mokokchung district on April 4 and 5.
In a press release, office of the DFO Mokokchung informed that during the meeting, director Intangki National Park, T. Aochuba said that Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) was a very important project for the state.
He expressed happiness to see the success of the project in Mokokchung district and added that the plantation activities were successfully implemented.
Aochuba encouraged members of the Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) to be self-sustainable in their approach towards project implementation.
The divisional forest officer (DFO) & DMU head Mokokchung, Dr. Sentitula said that this was the third year of implementation of the project on the field.
The villages covered under JICA project were Changtongya New, Mopungchuket & Mongsenyimti under Batch-I. Sungratsu, Chakpa, Longmisa, Yaongyimsen, Salulamang & Merangkong under Batch-II, she informed.
The DFO also informed that area covered under plantation was 3,385 Ha and total saplings planted was 5,96,633 under 38 forestry intervention models across the district.
The project has also developed MIS application and GIS Mobile applications which enabled filed officials/FNGO Teams/JFMC members to update and upload data and photos from their respective areas in real time.
While presenting a case study on water harvesting structures initiative undertaken under Mokokchung division, Dr. Sentitula disclosed that the NFMP initiative towards construction of water harvesting structures in all JICA villages resulted very positively towards adequate supply of water to all the household and said water was being made available for Agri and allied livelihood activities.
The batch-II villages under Mokokchung DMU have resulted in successful construction and convergence of the programme with the villages councils and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), she further stated.
Meanwhile, progress of work and activities for the year ending March 2022 were presented by field staff in-charges of all the villages, Tiarenba Forester-I and Aosungla Forester-I.
Financial status and progress of works were presented by Mokokchung range officer, I. Sashilemla & Changtongya beat officer, Moamongba.
The DMU supporting staff, accounts assistant Wapang and convergence expert Talimeren also presented annual plan operation for the year 2022-23.
Later, JFMC presidents of Changtongya New, Mongsenyimti, Mopungchuket, Salulamang, Yaongyimsen, Merangkong, Chakpa, Longmisa and Sungratsu also gave detailed PowerPoint presentation on all the works undertaken during the year.
