DLAC Dmu reviews food safety measures

The third quarterly meeting of the District Level Advisory Committee (DLAC) for Safe Food and Healthy Diets was held on October 9 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Dimapur.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Office Dimapur, the meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and DLAC chairman, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, who acknowledged the efforts of the Food Safety Administration and encouraged continued emphasis on hygiene promotion through regular inspections and awareness drives.
Chief Medical Officer and vice chairman of DLAC, Dr. T. Yetovi Tuccu, delivered the welcome address and underscored the importance of food safety in daily life.
Designated Officer, Food Safety and member secretary of DLAC, Pelerieno Kehie, presented an overview of food safety activities. Department-wise roles in promoting food safety were discussed, and necessary measures to be undertaken by respective departments were highlighted.
Other pressing food safety concerns were also deliberated and documented for effective implementation.
The meeting was attended by officials from the district administration, medical department, Industries and Commerce, Social Welfare, Education, Agriculture, Civil Supply, and representatives from Food Business Operators (FBOs).
In his concluding remarks, the chairman advised the Food Safety team to intensify inspections of hotels, restaurants, and other food service establishments during the festive season.
