DLCC Mon discusses strengthening birth & death registration mechanism

A District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) meeting on Registration of Births and Deaths was convened on October 13 at the Office Chamber of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Mon, Pakon Phom, who chaired the meeting and welcomed all members present.
According to DIPR report, District Economics & Statistics Officer Mon, Yhunchilo Khing, presented an overview of the Registration of Births and Deaths, emphasizing the significance of the Civil Registration System (CRS) in ensuring accurate demographic records and public service delivery.
Key agenda items discussed included safekeeping of birth and death records/certificates, promotion of online registration, periodic training programmes for registrars, appointment of new registrars, review of latest records including Medical Certification of Cause of Death (MCCD), and addressing delayed registrations.
The committee also deliberated on strategies for effective implementation of registration processes at the village level. Members agreed on the need to raise awareness through churches and civil society organisations to ensure timely and accurate registration across the district.
