The District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) third quarter Review Meeting & Inter Department Coordination Meeting on Tobacco Control was held at the Commissioner of Police’s conference hall, Dimapur on November 28.
A press release by district nodal officer, Nagaland Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), C Tetseo, stated that Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Jatila Jamir, who spoke on the occasion, highlighted the dangers of tobacco and she also challenged all stake holders to work towards reducing its use. C Tetseo gave a presentation on tobacco control laws.
In the interactive session, chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Police Zone-11, Vishal Chauhan, various aspects of tobacco control laws were deliberated and members agreed to coordinate to check malpractices of tobacco use in the city. Representatives of Police, Education, Food Safety, Drug Control, Pollution Board, DMC, Legal Metrology, Taxes, Excise, colleges, and schools attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Father Joe chairman PNF, in which five schools were awarded tobacco free certificates.
