District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) meeting for Registration of Births and Deaths was held on October 8 at the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, under the chairmanship of DC and DLCC chairperson, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa.
According to a DIPR report, the committee deliberated on strategies to enhance awareness among NGOs and voluntary organisations, including Village Council Chairmen, Head GBs, Pastors, Head Teachers and Tribal Unions, for effective implementation of the Civil Registration System (CRS) and to promote its benefits across the district.
The meeting also stressed the need for proper training of medical staff on issuing Medical Certificates for Causes of Death. With the CRS now upgraded to an online platform, members emphasized the importance of equipping rural registration units with necessary training to facilitate online registration services in all areas.
It was further suggested that advertisements be released in leading newspapers on occasions such as Children’s Day and World Population Day to encourage issuance of free birth certificates for children aged two years and below. The committee also recommended that Shamator and Noklak districts develop separate district portals to ensure smooth and convenient implementation of the Civil Registration System for public service delivery.
