DLH appeals for issuance of FHR phase-II work order

DIMAPUR, MAR 23 (NPN):

Dimapur Lotha Hoho has appealed to the PWD (R&B) to immediately issue work orders for Phase-II of the 2-lane Foothills Road project in the remaining untouched divisions, emphasising the need to accelerate construction before the dry working season ends.
In a press release, DLH chairman Thungchanthung Murry and general secretary Y.R.L Patton appreciated the visionary leadership of chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio and the collaborative efforts of the Nagaland Foothills Road Coordinating Committee (NFHRCC) and 10 tribal hohos that initiated the alignment from Tizit in Mon district to Dimapur in 2013.
It further appreciated the subsequent extension of the proposed road up to Khelma in Peren district, covering nearly 400 km.
Despite significant resource constraints, the hoho acknowledged the state government’s success in securing Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) loan funding for Phase-I of the 2-lane road, which is now nearing completion.
The hoho recalled the assurance by PWD (R&B) minister to complete the entire project by 2027.
In light of this commitment, DLH urged the department to expedite the issuance of Phase-II work orders without delay. The hoho reiterated its full support for the joint memorandum submitted to the chief minister on February 21, 2026, by the 13 Dimapur-based apex tribal hohos.
The hoho stressed that prioritising the timely completion of the 2-lane Foothills Road remains essential before any consideration of upgrading it to a mega 4-lane National Highway.
