DLSA Kiphire organises various activities

District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kiphired organized a legal seminar with the DBs and GBs of Kiphire town on July 30 at DC’s conference hall on the topics “Village Council Act 1978 and Administration of Justice and Police in Nagaland 1937”.

A press release from NSLSA public relation assistants stated that CJM and secretary KDLSA, N.Kano speaking on the importance and objectives of the Village Council Act said that DBs and GBs need to be acquainted with the Village Council Act in order to carry out the cases when appeals are preferred from the Village Councils in the district so as to deliver justice to the citizens at the grass root level.

Panel lawyer, Hotingkiu delivering on Administration of Justice and Police in Nagaland said that the Administration of Justice and Police in Nagaland was enacted by the state government  which govern  the rules and procedures for filing suits and appeals. He urged the participants to be well verse with the procedures in taking up the cases in order to avert procedural lapses in the court proceedings.

Earlier the programme was chaired by PLV, Asuthong  and vote of thanks was proposed by chair. The programme was attended by 47 members. 

As a part of the monthly action plan of the Nagaland State Legal services Authority,District Legal Services Authority, Kiphire organized a Legal Literacy Classes at Government Higher Secondary School, Kiphire town  on July 31.

The objective of the seminar was to impart legal knowledge to the upcoming youngsters of the students’ community. CJM and secretary KDLSA, N. Kano delivered on the aims and objectives of the “Right to Education Act 2009” wherein he taught the students the basic rights of the students. He stated that the Right to Education Act provides for free and compulsory education to the citizens between the age group of 6 to 14.

PL, Hotingkiu spoke on the Consumer Protection Act 1986 and Motor Vehicle Act 1988 in detail. He also stated that every individual is a consumer and therefore need to know their rights and duties as a consumer. 

Meanwhile he urged the students to be aware of the rules and regulations of the Motor vehicle Act for self safety and appealed them to convey the message to their relatives and friends.

The programme was participated by more than 100 students from class 10-12 and concluded with a vote of thanks by the chairperson G/T GHSS Kiphire, S.R.Singh.
