District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Kohima, Tuensang and Longleng conducted various programmes on Tuesday at their respective districts.
Kohima District Legal Services Authority (KDLSA) organized a legal awareness programme on NALSA scheme and consumer rights at Nerhema village council hall.
While delivering keynote address, chief judicial magistrate and secretary KDLSA, Victo Sema, highlighted the purpose of the legal awareness programme and the aims and objectives of Nagaland State Legal Services Authority.
Speaking on legal services to victim of drug abuse and eradication of drug menace scheme 2015, panel lawyer KDLSA, Nancy Lotha stressed on the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, its importance, provisions and punishments of the act. She also informed on the objectives of the scheme and awareness programmes rendered to different sections of the society.
Panel lawyer KDLSA, Hisinlo Himb spoke on the effective implementation of poverty alleviation schemes 2015 and explained the meaning of poverty alleviation and different types of poverty such as absolute, relative and situational poverty.
He also explained the different schemes extend by the government such as Jawarhar Gram SamridhiYougna (JGSY), National Old Age Pension Schemes, National Maternity Benefit Schemes, Annapurna scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural employment Guarantee (MGNRG) scheme.
Speaking on child friendly legal service to children and their protection scheme 2015, panel lawyer KDLSA, Apila Sangtam explained on the right of the child to survival, development, protection and participation rights and special provision for women and children.
She also explained other child related Acts such as Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, the Prohibition of Child marriage Act, Juvenile Justice Act, the Protection of children from sexual offences Act 2012, the right of children to free and compulsory education act 2009.
Panel lawyer KDLSA, Wapangienla Kichu spoke on the topic legal services to the mentally III and mentally disabled persons scheme 2015; while panel lawyer KDLSA, Thejapfutuo spoke on Consumer Protection Act, 1986.
Panel lawyer, Keduvi Zhotso chaired the programme and VDB secretary, Nerhema village Rukravolie Rulho delivered welcome address.
TUENSANG: Tuenang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) organised half yearly meeting cum workshop on basic laws of PLVs at conference hall hotel Navin Tuensang.
In the programme, judicial magistrate first class and secretary TDLSA, N Kano, spoke on the schemes of Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) and encouraged the PLVs to continuously work for the down trodden people.
Master trainer NSLSA, Cheliam Khiamniungan, while emphasising on the implementation of NALSA Schemes, said that various departments, authorities and NGOs should be identified to let the benefits reach the actual beneficiaries.
She reminded that PLVs should be pro-active to collect information, plan and implement the scheme and spread awareness to the general public, target group or victims of any kind.
Retainer lawyer TDLSA, Yimtsusangla Chang spoke on the introduction on basic laws and highlighted about the basic laws from the booklets and pamphlets which are to be used during “door to door” campaign to be conducted on September 23 .
Chang briefed the PLVs how to approach people during the campaign and also informed on the number of household to be covered by each group/individual and reporting system.
PLV Pukho Meyo and PLV Yemlongchaba shared their experiences and success stories they had undertaken under various NALSA schemes. They encouraged the fellow PLVs to be more committed in rendering their services to the poor and needy.
The programme was chaired by Antimangyang Chang. Altogether 24 PLV’s from 14 LAC’s attended the meeting cum workshop.
LONGLENG: Longleng District Legal Services Authority (LDLSA) organized a brief programme to hand over victim compensation to two victims under the Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012 at district court Longleng.
In a short programme, panel lawyer LDLSA, A Mane Phom highlighted about the cases while assistant public prosecutor, Abraham spoke on proper utilization of the funds.
Additional deputy commissioner Longleng, Temsuwati handed over an amount of Rs. 4 lakh, and Rs. 2 lakh to two victims respectively.
The programme was chaired by chief judicial magistrate and secretary LDLSA, TucanoVamuzo.
