Zunheboto District Legal Services Authority (ZDLSA) and Peren District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) separately organised legal awareness programme for children and workshop for Dobashis (DBs) and Gaon Buras (GBs) on Friday.
ZDLSA: Zunheboto Legal Services Authority conducted legal awareness programme on Child Friendly Legal Services Scheme (NALSA Scheme 2015) cum essay competition on fundamental rights and duties at Government Higher Secondary School Zunheboto. While giving an introduction on child friendly legal services scheme (NALSA Scheme 2015), panel lawyer ZDLSA, Easter H. Yepthomi, dwelled on the categories of child rights and constitutional provisions. Legal cum probation officer DCPU Zunheboto, Khetoholi J. Yeputhomi spoke on Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act and Prohibition of child labour. She appraised on the procedures for reporting crimes against juvenile and the remedial measures available for juvenile. Khetoholi also highlighted on the initiatives taken by the Child Welfare Committee Zunheboto for rehabilitation of juveniles in conflict with law and protection of juvenile in need of care and protection.
Altogether 15 students participated in the essay competition, where Ily Awomi, Hito N Yeptho and Mughalika were adjudged first place, second place and third place respectively.
The programme was attended by class 11 and 12 students and teaching faculty of GHSS Zunheboto. Legal literary booklets were also distributed to the participants.
PDLSA: Peren District Legal Services Authority organised workshop for Dobashis (DBs) and Gaon Buras (GBs) at town hall Jalukie. Keynote address and introduction was delivered by chief judicial magistrate and secretary PDLSA, Somet Chang while master trainers, Limasenla Longkumer and Esther Aye spoke on welfare scheme and NALSA schemes, 2015 and Nagaland Village Council Act and Rules for Administration of Justice of Police in Nagaland respectively. The programme was chaired by Retainer Lawyer, Asungbe.
On the same day, PDLSA also organised a programme on child friendly legal services at St. Xavier College Conference Hall Jalukie town.
Somet Chang delivered the keynote address and introduction while master trainers, Limasenla Longkumer and Esther Aye spoke on Child Friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection Scheme 2015 and Juvenile Justice Act and The Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) 2012 respectively. The programme was chaired by APP Peren, ItalangRamlia.
