Dimapur Lotha Youth Organisation (DLYO) has extended support to the recent eviction drive carried out by the state government at Diphupar village, Chümoukedima district, to reclaim government land designated for the expansion of Dimapur Airport.
In a statement, DLYO termed the move as “a critical step forward in pursuit of sustainable development, administrative accountability, and inclusive progress”.
DLYO noted that various developmental initiatives across Nagaland had faced prolonged delays due to encroachment on government-acquired land, which had resulted in infrastructural and socio-economic setbacks for the state.
Highlighting the strategic significance of Dimapur airport expansion project, DLYO asserted that enhanced air connectivity would not only bolster trade and tourism but also improve emergency preparedness. It maintained that a successful development will unlock long-term opportunities that stand to benefit the youth and future generations of Nagaland.
While acknowledging the sensitivity of eviction drives and their potential impact on livelihoods, DLYO urged that such actions be conducted transparently, within legal frameworks, and humanitarian consideration. However, it reiterated that public welfare and the rule of law must remain paramount.
DLYO assured its strong solidarity with the government’s efforts to reclaim public land and to ensure its use serves the collective public.
