DLYO lauds police for arresting NSCN cadre in extortion case

Dimapur Lotha Youth Organization (DLYO) has lauded the swift and efficient action taken by the law enforcement agencies in apprehending one NSCN-K (Khango) cadre in connection with extortion demand from a Naga entrepreneur, ensuring that justice was served.

DLYO through its media cell stated that one NSCN-K (Khango) cadre had demanded a sum of Rs. 25,000 from a Naga entrepreneur at Purana Bazar on February 4.

While strongly condemning the “unlawful tax” imposed on one of its bona fide members by “a factional group”, DLYO asserted that such “shameful act” of demanding money was “a clear affront” to the struggles of the youth, who were already grappling with unemployment and seeking to overcome it through entrepreneurship.

Further, DLYO expressed deep shock that such extortion continued to occur, despite the ongoing efforts of the Naga youths to combat such injustices. Asserting that the latest incident was not the first time, the youth body called upon every Naga to voice their opposition to this form of exploitation. It said that the fight against extortion and unlawful taxation was far from over. DLYO affirmed its commitment to “resisting these oppressive acts.”

Dimapur Lotha Youth Organization said it remained committed to the welfare and protection of its members and would continue to work closely with law enforcement to uphold peace and order in the community.
