Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) administrator Albert Ezung has informed that there have been instances of transmission of Coronavirus through wet markets/slaughter houses especially those dealing with fresh meat like beef/pork/chicken/fish etc in other parts of the world. Therefore, to contain possible transmission and spread of the viruses through such medium, the DMC has issued an advisory to all the concerned dealing with the above mentioned trade to operate as per the FSSAI guidelines within the jurisdiction of Dimapur municipal area. There should be proper disposal of waste/fluids and butchers should handle the meat hygienically. Failure to comply with these directives shall be penalised as mentioned: Rs. 1000 for first instance; Suspension of trade license for three months for second instance and cancellation of trade license at the third instance.
