DMC bans poly bags

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has imposed total ban on the manufacture, sale and use of any form of non-bio degradable poly bags under its jurisdiction.  Dealers, stockiest and traders have been given three months time to dispose off their existing non-bio degradable poly bags stock before November 30. 
In a press release, DMC administrator H. Atokhe Aye said the decision to impose complete ban was made on August 10. For the convenience of customers, DMC said traders and shopkeepers would be allowed to use bio-degradable bags of forty micron, having DMC’s logo. All general public have been asked to co-operate with DMC in keeping the city clean.
