Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) administrator W. Manpai Phom has clarified to all consumers and general public under its jurisdiction that it does not fix the wholesale price/rate of perishable goods/items such as green vegetables and fruits.
However, in the larger interest of consumers/public and with a view to maintain/control the market rates of these commodities, the DMC said a system of price regulation of such commodities was in place wherein the wholesale price/rate of all such perishable items was collected from the wholesale market on a daily basis and the quotation of maximum retail price (MRP) for one day was prepared with nominal margin for retailers/vendors within the council’s jurisdiction.
The DMC said its officials were deployed at all market locations for strict vigilance of the market rates quoted by the council.
