In its effort to keep the city clean, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has been clearing the clogged drainages in and around the district.
On Monday, DMC led by its administrator, Atokhe Aye cleared one of the major drainage at New Market area, which had been a concern for many particularly during rainy seasons.
Talking to this Reporter, Atokhe disclosed that the drainage (in new market) was cleared for the first time in 20 years.
He further said that the ongoing drainage clearing work and renovation would be over in a week’s time.
It may be noted that the drainages in different parts of the city, particularly New Market area had been largely left neglected, causing serious inconveniences to the public during rainy seasons.
Meanwhile, DCCI president, Hokivi Chishi while expressing relief over the DMC’s ongoing renovation and clearing work, said it was a positive contribution to the society.
It may also be mentioned that the DMC had carried out various road-repair works in and around Dimapur city in the past month. The road-repair works were carried out from the money collected through toll tax.
