As part of its developmental activities in and around Dimpaur town, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has constructed a footpath-cum-drainage at Lotha Colony, Dimapur.
According to chairman Lotha Colony Council, Renathung Ezung, the 400 meter footpath-cum-drainage was constructed with the fund provided by the DMC. The road leading to Viola Colony has been neglected for many years and during monsoon it was difficult for the students and the colony people to pass through this road, Ezung said.
Taking into account, the council had on earlier occasion, approached the DMC for the construction but it was not taken up, he added. However, this time under the initiative of DMC administrator Atokhe Aye, the construction of the footpath-cum-drainage was carried out.
He said when the colony council apprised the matter, Atokhe immediately sent some of his staff and after inspection, the work was taken up by the colony council with the fund provided by the DMC.
Meanwhile, Lotha Colony Council has lauded the DMC administrator Atokhe Aye for showing his concern for the colony people and the general public.
It may be noted that DMC, as part its second phase of developmental activities in and around Dimapur, has decided to clear clogged drainages in main town area before the onset of monsoon.
