DMC contest for ‘cleanest colony’ in Dimapur

The panel of judges under the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) for A Better Dimapur initiative of “Cleanest Colony in Dimapur Competition 2019” undertook inspection to wards and colony under DMC during the last few days. 

A press release from  EAC & convenor Tsidi and president DUCCF & member secretary, Tsenthungo Lotha stated that, all the colonies under DMC have been encouraged to keep their colony clean and also call all colony GBs and chairmen to mobilize residents and take active part in the competition and initiate cleanliness drive from time to time. The team also appealed the public to maintain civic sense and have a community mindset, not for money or prize but for a better Dimapur.  

The judging is based on six criteria: Garbage management, drainage management, stagnant water, road maintenance, sanitation, and colony community participation. Under DMC, out of 23 wards more than 100 colonies have been demarcated into small and large colony. 

There will be no elimination round and subsequently all colonies will be given points every month. Points will also be given for e-waste management. 

The prizes for winning colony are Rs. 1,00000 (winner), Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000 for 1st and 2nd runners up respectively. Prizes of Rs. 10000 respectively will also given both for small as well as big colonies.

Judges comprise of Tsidi (EAC) as convenor and president DUCCF Tsenthungo Lotha as member secretary. Other judges are Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) vice president, K Gokheto Chophy, Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD) vice president Vimeno, GBs Union Dimapur general secretary Onen Jamir, and Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) vice president Sentimeren Pongen.  The same exercise will be undertaken every week.
