DMC continues demolition

Even after receiving criticism and appreciation from the public in regard to the demolition undertaken by DMC for beautification of Dimapur city, DMC Councilors today started their demolition drive at Dhobinala, Midland, PWD Junction and Fellowship junction. Around 20 numbers of ‘Ghumtis,’ structures build upon pavements and ‘Chajjas’ were demolished.
Later, briefing the medias at the Chairperson office chamber, D.P.Angami (Deputy Chairperson) said that the third phase of the Operation Demolition will take place soon and also added that temporary patta would be issued after consultation with the DMC .Angami had also appealed all land owners to comply with its earlier order, otherwise the DMC would be compeled to demolish the structures without further notification.
According to Atomu Wotsa, the main cause of these haphazard and illegal structures was because of random pattas issue previously by the authority. He also said that patta or license, would be issued by obtaining an NOC from the DMC office so that no problems would crop up in the future. Atomu also added that being a civic body the DMC has a limited fund to carry out all the developmental activities and so he requested the government to come forward in the development process for the betterment of the general public.
DMC informed that on August 5 meeting would be conducted with the students fraternity, NGO’s,GB’s and DB’s, police personnel, administration and public leaders to chalk out plan for the beautification of Dimapur city.
DMC has also again requested the power department, telecom to relocate the poles and reminded the PWD to carry out further construction work.
