Request govt to allow collection of urban utility fee/entry fee
Dimapur Municipal Council Employees Welfare Union (DMCEWU) through its president Vinoto Ayemi and general secretary Lensanaro has appealed to the state government to resolve the issues of granting additional fund and allow DMC to collect urban utility fee/entry fee from all commercial vehicles entering DMC jurisdiction.
It may be mentioned that on March 7, 2024, the DMCEWU had served a 15-day ultimatum on the competent authority to release their five months’ salary. The union also threatened to launch ‘no pay no work’ agitation if its demand was not met within the stipulated period.
However, after advisor Urban Development and Municipal Affairs assured to look into their demand, the union at its meeting on March 21, 2024 called off the proposed agitation and resolved to cooperate with the government till May 15, 2024.
The union, however, considering the Model Code of Conduct which was in force for ongoing Lok Sabha elections, has requested the responsible authority to resolve the matter soon after the model code of conduct was withdrawn. Meanwhile, the DMCEWU has also urged all the employees of DMC to cooperate with the union.
