DMC fixes poultry rate

In view of the stabilization in the wholesale market rate of chicken and chicken product, Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed that the temporary retail rate fixed by the council dated May 18, 2023 has been cancelled/withdrawn with immediate effect.
In a press release, DMC administrator, W Manpai Phom informed that after discussing with chicken seller of Dimapur and comparing the rate from neighbouring state Assam, the council has re-fixed the rate of chicken item, to be enforced with immediate effect.
DMC has fixed the rate as following – broiler (live), Rs. 180 per kg; broiler (dressed), Rs 270 per kg; layer and fillister (live), Rs. 200 per kg and kuroiler (live), Rs. 300 per kg.
DMC said the prescribed rate was the maximum amount fixed, however, the sellers are liable to sell below the prescribed rate. The council said that the stall has to be hygienic as per the norms and has directed the butchers to provide quality and hygienic meat to the customers. DMC warned that failing to comply with the instructions would invite appropriate action as per Provisions of Act.
