DMC launches Swachhata Pakhwada & Swachhata Hi Seva

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has launched Swachhata Pakhwada & Swachhata Hi Seva (Dimapur Ves Garbage: join the fight for garbage free cities), here Friday, at Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall.


Delivering a keynote address DMC administrator W. Manpai Phom, informed that Swachhata Pakhwada & Swachhata Hi Seva, is a fortnight event under Swacch Bharat Mission 2.0. under which various series of event will be carried out from September 16 to October 2, 2023.


In Dimapur, the event will commence on September 15, from 6 am with the participation of “Indian Swachhata League 2.0”. The event will be held starting convergent from City tower, after which cleanliness drive will be carried out in certain identified areas and will culminate at Dimapur District State Stadium.


The launch programme is a joint collaboration for the SBM urban as well as rural. Under the state government’s municipal government as well as state PHED department (the nodal department of SBM Gramin), various activities and programme under Swachhata Pakhwada & Swachhata Hi Seva will be organized.


In this regard, Phom revealed that the team main’s focus was to carry out cleanliness drive, mobilizing over thousands of youths under DMC participating in the drive. Therefore, he appealed the DUCFF, organizations and GBs to encouraged the youths of the colonies to participate in the event. The event will be flagged off by advisor of Tribal Affairs and Election, H. Tovihoto Ayemi.


Phom also mentioned that along with the launch of the programme, “Safai Mitra” will also be provided where opportunities will be provided for the sanitation workers for health check-up, as well as avail the various insurance schemes provided by the government.


DC Dimapur, Sachin Jaiswal in his remark said that every year during this time, certain programmes are carried out. While reiterating on the menace of single use plastic, he reminded that although various awareness campaign has been carried out, the use of single use plastic still continues to be seen which are used especially for commercial purposes. He, therefore suggested for immediate action to control the menace.


He, hoped that with the launch of the programme, community participation will be adverse in keeping the town clean which will be adopted by all even in the days to come.


The programme further followed pledge taking on keeping the environment clean and healthy.
Various organizations including DUCCF, GBs Association, Naga Women Hoho, PHED department officials and Team Clean Dimapur attended the launching programme.
