Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), under the supervision of DMC Councilor, in-charge of Public Transport, Parking Lots and Non-Motorized vehicles, H Nikali Zhimo, carried out the first phase of its weekly cleanliness drive on Saturday, marking the beginning of a sustained initiative to promote public hygiene and civic responsibility across the city.
The cleanliness drive was carried out by DMC parking fee collectors and members of Dimapur District Autorickshaw Driver’s Union.
Speaking with Nagaland Post, Nikali Zhimo informed that as part of the programme, parking fee collectors engaged under DMC undertook cleanliness activities within their respective designated parking zones.
It may be noted that members of DDADU also took part in the cleanliness drive across the district, informing that they have also resolved to undertake the cleanliness driver every Saturday, in collaboration with DMC.
Nikali Zhimo therefore appealed to the residents to extend their support to the initiative, stating that public participation was essential for maintaining cleanliness, civic discipline and fostering a healthier urban environment. A total of around 50 volunteers participated in the cleanliness drive.
