DMC observes WED towards clean Dimapur

After officially launching the distribution of Waste Segregation for Wet and Dry Waste for houses across all the wards, Swachh Bharat Brand Ambassador for Dimapur district, Geoffrey Yaden urged upon those present -Dimapur GBs, Urban Colony Chairmen, DDCF, DMC employees and members of the public- to carry the mission of cleanliness to residents of their respective wards and colonies including establishments.
He said Swachh Bharat has given the biggest boost towards environmental cleanliness and credited   Narendra Modi whom he described as “ an action-oriented prime minister”  as being responsible for   making a huge difference.
Yaden said Swaachh Bharat mission to make India free from Open Defecation would conclude on the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2,2019. To Yaden’s appeal, all those present responded with raising of hands to join hands in making Dimapur City the  cleanest in the state and also the region.
A clean Dimapur will make a difference said the chief guest and reminded that it was not the sole responsibility of the DMC or those volunteering to do cleanliness drives.
The chief guest lauded the qualities of people in Nagaland in undertaking mass social work with enthusiasm. He pointed out that Swach Bharat was not about mass social work but  to bring about a change of habit among people to be individually responsible towards cleanliness of their own environment.
DMC administrator Moa Sangtam was held up at a meeting and his message was read out by VAS Dr. Sentimoa. In the speech, the DMC administrator said the garbage  recycling plant, with imported technology will launched soon  at its designated landfill. The administrator expressed the hope that it will  be able to provide eco- friendly atmosphere with zero pollution to the Dimapurians.
In his brief speech on the occasion,  President of DUCCF Tsen Lotha spoke about global environmental concerns  and reminded citizens about their responsibilities to maintain and preserve the environment.
President of Dimapur GBs Union K.Y. Ngullie  also called upon all members and public to spread awareness on environment.
DMC Veterinarian Dr. Sentimoa informed Colony members/wards who have not submitted their colony house list/committee list, to do so early in order not to delay the distribution of waste baskets for dry and wet wastes.
The blue colored (Dry) and green (Wet) waste baskets are to be distributed to all houses in colonies and wards under DMC. The wastes contained in the baskets will be collected by Swachh Bharat Mission trucks under DMC everyday, informed Dr Sentimeren.
Vote of thanks was offered by DMC engineer Badal Bhadra and then waste baskets were distributed.
