In a press release, DMC chief executive officer Dr. Kuzonyi Wideo said the signboard must clearly and visibly display the name of the shop or business establishment, nature of business or trade, DMC trade licence, shop licence or permit number, and GSTIN, wherever applicable.
DMC said establishments must also display any other particulars required under applicable laws, rules, regulations or directions of the council.
It said the information should be clear, legible and readily visible to facilitate identification of establishments and verification of their municipal licence status.
DMC warned that failure to comply within the stipulated period would invite necessary action under the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, and applicable rules, regulations, licence conditions and other lawful directions.
Such action could include penalties and, where legally permissible and after following due process, suspension or cancellation of the trade licence.
DMC has, therefore, advised all concerned establishments to ensure compliance within the deadline to avoid penal and other consequential action.
