DMC orders meat stalls to maintain strict hygiene

Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has ordered all poultry dressed meat stalls under its jurisdiction to construct dust/ply proof structure and maintain strict hygiene within a period of seven days.


In an office memorandum, DMC chief executive officer Thungchanbemo Tungoe informed that it was resolved at a meeting held on February 5, 2025 at the DMC office.


The meeting noted that in order provide clean and healthy meat/fish to the consumer, strict hygiene and sanitary measures would be maintained while processing/handling of the meat/fish for human consumption.


DMC also resolved that no traders would operate/open stall along the footpath.
DMC has warned that anyone failing to comply with its order would be penalized as per provision of the Act even to the extent of cancelling of trade license.
