DMC sanitation drive across Dimapur

In a continued effort to promote cleanliness and public hygiene, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has ramped up its sanitation operations, with workers carrying out round-the-clock cleaning activities across the town.
According to DMC officials, the intensified drive—initiated last year—aims to address pressing waste management issues and improve the overall environment of the town. Teams of sanitation workers have been deployed across key areas, including markets, residential zones, and public spaces.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, DMC chairperson Hukheto Yepthomi said the drive reflects the council’s commitment to a cleaner and more livable Dimapur. “Our sanitation staff have been working in shifts to ensure that garbage collection, street sweeping, and drain cleaning are carried out regularly and without delay,” he said.
The ongoing campaign has resulted in large-scale garbage clearance, de-silting of drains, and public awareness initiatives on responsible waste disposal. Despite challenging weather conditions and limited manpower, sanitation workers—many of whom begin their duties before dawn—have been appreciated for their dedication.
“We can see a real difference. The roads are cleaner, and garbage is being collected more frequently,” said a shopkeeper at Nyamo Lotha Road.
The DMC has called on residents to support the initiative by avoiding littering, segregating waste at home, and reporting illegal dumping or unattended garbage bins to the municipal helpline. Officials also hinted that similar sanitation drives would be undertaken periodically to ensure sustained cleanliness across the town.
