One week after banning sale of meat/meat products in the open/road side, the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has served a 15-day deadline on the butchers to relocate their shops to provide hygienic environment, free from dust and flies and clear running water in their shops. In a press release, DMC administrator Albert Ezung stated that a joint drive would be conducted and defaulters would be penalized as per the provision of the Act without further notice. DMC had directed the colonies to ban all slaughtering/processing of meat animals meant for human consumption and sale of meat in open air(roadside) or unhygienic environment.
